Story

On 19 June 2011, I will be cycling 60 miles with over 4000 riders to raise money for charity. I have chosen to donate all sponsorship to Ryan's Forever Fund. Ryan, my cousin's baby, tragically died last year as a result of meningitis. The Great Nottinghamshire Bike Ride is an opportunity for me to raise money for the fund and support the important work carried out by Meningitis UK. I'll be doing this on Rusty, my trusty old bike that has been in the family since I was 13. I've notched up a few miles on this fella over the years. Come on Rusty old buddy, don't let me down. Please sponsor me and help me to raise money for this cause.

Updates

Done!

20th June 2011
Hi A massive thank you to everyone that sponsored me for cycle. 3 of us completed the race in around 5 hours. There were a couple of difficult stretches but, all in all, it was a great ride! I've posted a few pictures in the gallery section of this site so please have a look! Thanks again Mark

Ow!

10th June 2011
As I sit on my chair to write this journal entry, I am gently reminded of last night's ride. I cycled to Wybunbury and back to pick up my fig pie recipes for Saturday. My bottom is a little sore today but no great shakes. Tonight I'll do the same distance again and hopefully I will not be quite as uncomfortable tomorrow. Amazing funds being raised already so I'm well chuffed with all my supporters. Speak tomorrow :o)

Training?

9th June 2011
Slightly scared by the fact that my training plan has not gone to, well.......plan! I had hoped to get more miles in by this point but all is not lost. Tonight I'm heading out for a few miles on my bike and next week I'll be preparing for the big day by cycling to work. One thing I am looking forward to is cycling with all of those other riders. I heard that last year there was a bit of pile-up at the start so I hope that doesn't happen again this year. I also hope that if it does, I am not the cause of it... 19th June - here I come! P.S Sponsor me :o)
